Alice Layout and Arisu Layout Keycaps: Sizes, Compatibility, and Languages

The right keycaps should fit both your keyboard and the way you type. For Alice Layout and Arisu Layout keyboards, that means finding the right split spacebars and modifiers alongside the language legends you want. SIMPOCUBIC’s MOA series brings these choices together, with multiple key sizes and French AZERTY, German QWERTZ, and English QWERTY options.

Understanding Alice Layout and Arisu Layout

Alice Layout commonly describes keyboards with inward-angled alphabet groups, a central gap, and split spacebars. The Alice keyboard shown here includes a function row, dedicated arrows, and dual B keys.

Arisu (アリス) is the Japanese transliteration of Alice. Both names appear across this family of designs, but individual keyboards can differ. Some include a right-hand Home, Page Up, and Page Down column; others omit it. Win may sit beside the left spacebar, while Fn and Ctrl positions can change across bottom rows.

These differences do not automatically require a completely different keycap set. Start with the actual keyboard layout, then match the required sizes and quantities. ANSI and ISO describe physical key arrangements and can also apply to Alice-style keyboards.

What Do 1U, 1.25U, and 2.75U Mean?

1U usually means the horizontal space occupied by a letter key, about 19mm. The keycap itself is slightly narrower.

A 1.25U modifier occupies more horizontal space than a 1U modifier, even when both carry the same legend. Likewise, different Shift keys and spacebars can look similar in photographs but require different sizes.

The table below shows a pair of common configuration examples; individual models may differ:

Key Conventional keyboard example Alice keyboard example
Spacebar 6.25U 2.25U left + 2.75U right
Left Shift 2.25U 2.25U
Right Shift 2.75U 1.75U
Main Enter 2.25U 2.25U
Backspace 2U 2U
B 1U × 1 1U × 2

These examples illustrate layout requirements, not the contents of a SIMPOCUBIC kit or the specifications of the keyboard pictured here.

Split Spacebars, Right Shift, and Bottom-Row Modifiers

A basic set containing only a standard long spacebar cannot cover split-spacebar requirements. In the Alice example above, a 6.25U bar does not replace the required 2.25U and 2.75U pair.

Right Shift also deserves attention: the Alice example uses 1.75U, compared with 2.75U in the conventional example. Check left Shift separately, especially for ISO configurations.

Next, inspect Fn and Ctrl around the right spacebar and bottom row. Match a 1U position with a 1U keycap and a 1.25U position with a 1.25U keycap. A wider Ctrl position may require 1.5U. Pair these with the right Shift your keyboard needs rather than assuming every bottom-row key has one standard width.

Size is the starting point. Switch interfaces, stabilizer positions, profile, and clearance must also match. A 2.25U Shift is not automatically a substitute for a 2.25U spacebar.

SIMPOCUBIC MOA: Compatibility Across ANSI, ISO, Alice, and Arisu

SIMPOCUBIC MOA kits support ANSI, ISO, Alice, and Arisu layouts with a range of modifiers, spacebars, and layout-specific keys. MOA refers to the keycap profile. For your particular keyboard, compare its layout with the kit image for your chosen language, checking key sizes, quantities, and switch compatibility, especially the split spacebars, Shift, Enter, and bottom-row modifiers.

For Rhapsody MOA, the French and German kit diagrams and SIMPOCUBIC-confirmed specifications provide these options:

Multilingual Layout Options from SIMPOCUBIC MOA

SIMPOCUBIC MOA kits offer multilingual layout options, including German QWERTZ, French AZERTY, English QWERTY, and more. You can choose keycaps for the language you use every day. The German and French versions are shown below.

Once you have chosen a language, check that the letters, number-row symbols, and punctuation suit your typing setup, then confirm that the kit includes the keys your keyboard needs. For ISO, pay particular attention to the Enter shape, left Shift, and extra key positions. Your operating system’s input layout is still set separately.

Before You Choose Your Set

Confirm your model and ANSI or ISO configuration. Check its spacebars, Shift keys, B keys, Enter, and bottom-row modifiers. Then choose your language and colorway.

With SIMPOCUBIC MOA, you can bring split-spacebar layouts, flexible modifier sizes, and familiar language legends into the same setup, without choosing on appearance alone.
